What advice would you give someone before they took a leap into the accommodation business?

 You need to be prepared for a 24/7 job.

What do you think is the most important thing about being running your own B&B, guest house or small hotel?

It has to be the customer service.

What’s the funniest thing that a guest has requested?

One guest requested everything to eat on the breakfast menu.

 What is one thing you wish you knew before getting into this industry?

Unfortunately it would be how some guests can be so inconsiderate.

What is the hardest part of your job?

Being accommodating to people who can be disruptive.

What is the best part of your job?

I love meeting so many lovely people.

What tips do you have to make sure guests book with you directly?

By making sure they get a personal service and sometimes we offer discounts.

Can you offer any tips for making sure you stand out against your competition?

Always make sure your guests feel special and give the best service you can.

What is the nicest thing a guest has said about their stay with you?

That they have enjoyed their stay and will be back and they often are.

Why did you choose to get into the accommodation business and what career did you have before?

I was a registered nurse for 30 years and enjoyed looking after people, and wanted to look after people in a happy environment.
