What advice would you give someone before they took a leap into the accommodation business?

You need to do your homework, don’t just dive in thinking its gonna be easy! Also you need to make sure that you have your HACCP, CONGRats food hygiene completed.

What do you think is the most important thing about being running your own B&B, guest house or small hotel?

You have got to be a good people person then everything else will fall into place.

What’s the funniest thing that a guest has requested?

Someone has asked for a haunted room

What is one thing you wish you knew before getting into this industry?

I wish I knew the sculpture cost of third party travel agents.

What is the hardest part of your job?

It has to be the stairs.

What is the best part of your job?

The guests leaving happy and then seeing them again.

What tips do you have to make sure guests book with you directly?

At point of farewell tell guests that they can get a discount by booking directly with you.

Can you offer any tips for making sure you stand out against your competition?

Be the best , you can only do your best and it will show in your product

What is the nicest thing a guest has said about their stay with you?

This was a genuine guests email “I do hope I can treat my friend to a few days stay at Pannett House to say thank you for being a true friend – I can’t boast enough about the beautiful place and the way it is managed – absolutely perfect in every way”

Why did you choose to get into the accommodation business and what career did you have before?

I have always been non the hospitality industry. I wanted to be my own boss.
