In preparation for National B&B Week, we sent a rather apprehensive Francis Boulle, of Made in Chelsea fame, to stay in a British B&B. The diamond heir had never stayed in a B&B before, and had some misconceptions about “avocado bathrooms” and the average B&B’s clientele being “old people”. However, Francis arrived at Abbot’s Grange in the Cotswolds, and it began to sink in that bed and breakfasts exist to suit all needs, budgets and preferences – even his own!

On the day, Francis arrived at the crack of dawn to film with his entourage in tow, including his girlfriend, actress Katy Reece, and his hair and makeup team. It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for capturing this stunning property in all its glory. Filming commenced in the breakfast room, Francis donned a plush dressing gown and tucked into his made to order breakfast – he’s very picky about his eggs…
After a sturdy full English, ironically we filmed his departure (as the morning light was necessary for the scene) followed by his exploration of the grounds, where Francis discovered the helipad, the croquet lawns and played a spot of tennis. Following the fun and games, we then shot his arrival in the afternoon light and then his relaxing in the bath scene. The scene where Francis falls asleep recording himself was actually filmed the night before!
So there you have it, this show business is funny stuff isn’t it?
Behind the scenes, the ‘real’ Francis was very keen to chat to other guests about National B&B Week and advocate our cause as much as he could. We asked Francis how much he thought a night at Abbot’s Grange cost and he guessed £150. It was actually £120 a night, which nicely showcases the great value of luxury B&Bs. It just goes to show that if B&Bs are luxurious enough for someone from Chelsea, then they’re good enough for everyone!
