The ‘Great British B&B Breakfasts’ cookbook is out now!

Updated on 27/11 2018

Yes, that really is a bowl of sardines and custard.

The unusual dish is the pride of The Silver Jubilee B&B, Newquay, and is one of the many Great British B&B Breakfasts being served up in our new cookbook.

Comprised of brilliant recipes from our properties all over the UK, the book has something for everyone. For the traditionally minded, the classic pairing of fatty bacon and silky smooth eggs, stacked with tomato in a beautiful medallion, is sure to get your mouth watering. A special breakfast Knickerbocker Glory is made with yoghurt instead of ice-cream, with layers of tart fruit compote and crunchy granola.

Other dishes include:

.    Mushrooms on toast, with garam masala and savoury crunchies

.    Devilled lambs kidneys and porcini mushrooms on brioche with pea salad

.    Duck egg, chorizo and guacamole on cornbread

.    Shrimp curry with rice

When it comes to all things culinary, eviivo has a long history supporting the best and brightest B&B talents. Our annual Tastiest Breakfast award has become a real event in the calendar, judged by such industry leaders as Pure Leith and Michel Roux Jnr. Many of the entries featured in the book have an impressive pedigree, drawn from award winners and shortlisted properties.

Dan Lepard, one of the awards’ judges, was full of praise for Great British B&B Breakfasts:

This book is filled with new ideas and recipes that celebrate breakfast: the essential wake-up meal. Breakfast literally breaks our hunger after a long comfortable night’s sleep and softens our introduction to the morning, avoiding getting turfed straight from mattress out into the brisk open air, and allows us to awaken, to think and to plan our day ahead before it’s put to the test. Whether you just need sustenance to steer you through the morning or a feast to fuel you ahead of your day’s adventures, a great breakfast gets you through it.

Always when I arrive at a B&B I’ll look at what they serve for breakfast and have made my mind up before my head hits the pillow. I might see porridge fields and marmalade skies in that night’s dreaming, or buttery Marmite roads leading to fresh orange juice sunrises, either way I’ll wake up ravenous for breakfast. And what’s great today, around the world, is that many B&B owners are equally inspired to make breakfast special.

Get the kettle on, breakfast is served.
