Happy New Year! For our end of the year podcast we are talking to our finalists for the eviivo Awards Tastiest Breakfast. We want to find out what it was like cooking under pressure for top judges Michel Roux Jnr, Dan Lepard and last years winner Gill Jones. We will also be picking up some festive cooking tips too!
First to check in is Julia Reid from Stone Croft Country House who tells us about how she specialises in making dishes for those with very specific dietary requirements. She recalls a time when a guest had accidentally left his clothes behind, but she knew he was going to the pub before heading home. So she called the local pub, only for the barmaid to shout ‘is there a Mr.XXX here, there’s a lady on the phone who says you’ve left your trousers at her place?’ Which caused quite the hysterical scene.
Last to check in is David Cross from Estbek House who tells us about how they started smoking their own salmon in-house and how his past as a food scientist and his business partners time as a head chef at a seafood restaurant inspires their dishes. They also tell us about the time that a young man proposed to his lady in the restaurant, however she bumped into David the following week whilst she was with her actual husband – awkward!
