We know that independent properties are wonderful at giving guests a more personal experience, after all they are not just staying at a faceless chain, they are staying with you. With that in mind we wanted to know what kind of things you do, to go that extra mile in making your guests feel special.
We also put together some ideas, that you could do at your property to make a stay with you an even more personal:
Home baked anything
Arriving to a slice of home made cake or freshly-cooked cookies in the room would be a dreamy start to anyone’s stay.
Chocolates on the pillow
This is a classic but definitely makes an impression.
Surprise them with delicious drinks
On a cold evening, there’s nothing better than a hot chocolate and marshmallows or in the summer a nice surprise of refreshing ice cold beverages will certainly be welcome.
Free food
Whether it’s biscuits on the front desk or a help yourself fruit stand.
Welcome hamper or welcome drinks
How about a welcome glass of bubbly or tea hamper?
Are children staying? How about colouring books in the room?
Or a wipe clean colouring sheet so you can re-use it over and over.
Family board games
Guests spend quite a bit of time in their rooms, maybe leave some family games to keep them entertained?
Dog friendly? How about some doggy treats and toys?
Let little furry friends enjoy their holiday too with doggy treats on arrival.
Hand-written notes on a compliments slip with logo and contact details
This is much more personal and welcoming.
Special advance off for next year
Secure some bookings for next year and make them feel special with a discount too.
Postcards
Special postcards made up with your logo and contact details for them to send to friends and family.
Take away special branded gifts
You can bulk buy branded gifts such as chocolates, mugs or teddy’s so they have something to remember their stay with you when they get home.
Speak to local suppliers
Get local suppliers to give you free samples to give to your guests in exchange for promoting their product, for example olive oil or wine.
Get your guests discounts
Make relationships with local restaurants, gyms or shops to try and get your guests a discount, in exchange for your recommendation and promotion.
