Do you make your own marmalade? If so, we’ve got the perfect competition for you! eviivo are very excited to be a sponsor at The World’s Original Marmalade Awards this year! But what are they? These quirky awards have been running since 2005 with the goal of preserving and spreading (sorry!) the traditional British custom of making marmalade. They have grown from humble beginnings to now inspire people from all over the world to participate.
The awards are held at Dalemain in Cumbria, a country mansion with strong links to the history of marmalade. Like eviivo, the awards champion the small and independent. Judged by a panel of experts, they put marmalade makers on the map, with winners able to proudly display their ‘Gold’ ‘Silver’ or ‘Bronze’ award on their jars.
And there are plenty of categories that you can enter, ranging from children’s marmalade to the boozy ‘Merry’ category.
The awards section our customers may be interested in entering is for is the Hotel, B&B and Restaurant category, which we will be sponsoring.
This category is specifically for businesses that make their own marmalade in their kitchens for guests to enjoy. We believe that independent hosts and hoteliers like you provide the very best standard of breakfast; furthermore, it’s all part of the service- something that larger hotel chains just can’t compete with. So this award gives you the opportunity to get your marmalade on the map and gives your breakfast the recognition it deserves.

Seville Orange Marmalade: thick, medium or fine cut
Any Citrus Marmalade: e.g. lemon, lime, sweet orange, blood orange… made with or without Sevilles
Reduced Sugar Marmalade: made with less than the standard UK requirement of a 60% minimum sugar content
Citrus Preserve with Interesting Additions: must include at least one interesting or unusual addition. There are two sub-categories:
(a) citrus preserve made with alcohol
(b) citrus preserve with any other addition, for example herbs, spices, floral fragrances, other fruits or vegetables
Citrus Preserve for Savoury Food: of which there are two sub-categories:
(a) the eviivo Prize for the best citrus preserve to go with a traditional cooked breakfast
(b) citrus preserve to serve with any other meat, fish or cheese
Citrus Preserve with Chocolate: a citrus-based spread which includes chocolate as one of the ingredients
