Next Stop, Christchurch

25 November, 2014

A visit on Wednesday for another of our roadshow events around the country, where we invite B&B and guest house owners to come and chat to us and find out how we can help them grow their business. It’s a great way for us to meet independent hosts and hoteliers face to face and to learn more about what’s important to them, as well as being able to find out more about their local area. One of the great things about my job is being able to visit the interesting destinations where our current and future customers are, and this trip took me to Christchurch in Dorset. I made sure I got there in plenty of time so that I could set up and then take a quick look at the river and the ruins of the old Norman castle; there’s a great view of the Priory from the top of the castle motte.

We were joined by colleagues from Visit Dorset who were there to tell attendees more about what they are doing to promote the county and how their eviivo availability seamlessly connects in to the Visit Dorset website. Looking back on the last 12 months of Dorset bookings via all of the channels which eviivo connects to, it seems that as well as the good summer, the popular ITV drama Broadchurch has had a very positive impact on visitor numbers. Bookings and revenue are up significantly, and so is the profile of Dorset.

The roadshow was a success, with a dozen guests from as far away as Lyme Regis and Shaftesbury making the journey to come and see a demo of our diary and channel manager tools, examples of our customisable property websites and of course see our Where’s Wooly animation. If you’ve not seen it yet, do be sure to watch it here. And don’t forget to enter the competition too. There were lots of questions throughout, and lots of discussions afterwards.

All in all a very satisfying day. If you’d like us to come to your town, drop us an email and we’ll see what we can arrange.
