Tucked away on a quiet street in historic Alexandria, Virginia sits the Liberty House, a restored 162-year-old townhouse that was just dubbed the hottest vacation rental in the U.S.

The arrival of the eviivo Awards in the US as part of International Week of the Host 2022 was a great opportunity to focus some well-deserved attention on the country’s unique independent accommodations. The announcement of the winners during a lively virtual ceremony (including a top celebrity appearance!) was unsurprisingly big news.

The event shone a spotlight on the incredible independent accommodation sector and the dedicted hosts and hoteliers behind an amazing array of properties. There were three awards categories: Hottest Property, Unsung Hero and Outstanding Host.

Hundreds of entries were whittled down to a shortlist of five of the very best in each category, deliberated over by a panel of expert industry judges. After the announcement of the winners, Baywatch star David Hasselhof rounded off proceedings with his congratulations and an inspirational message to all.

The Hottest Property winner received a full profile from CNBC, whose report included plenty of pictures of the venerable accommodation.

Honorable mentions were also given to Unsung Hero award winner Lisa at Montfair Resort Farm in Crozet, Virginia and Outstanding Host Bonnie at Sandy Shores in Redgranite, Wisconsin.

The Hottest Property was also picked up by Virgina and Washington DC radio station and news site WTOP News.
