Welcome to our September podcast. With less than a month until the eviivo awards at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, we wanted to speak to a few of our shortlisted properties, so we can get to know their stories a little better.
Firstly, we get the low-down on what one of our judges, David Weston, Chairman of the B&B Association, will be looking for in the winning properties.
Next up we talk to Alison Shortreed from The Village Inn who has been shortlisted for the Budget with a Twist award. She will be telling us what makes a stay with her so special including her fantastic reviews such as ‘it was a bit like, staying with your slightly bonkers but welcoming auntie.’
We then speak to two properties up for an Outstanding Host award, which is understandably a tough category as hosting is something the independent accommodation sector simple excels at. Lindsey from Lakeside House tells us about the time someone left their Grandma behind (!) and then Liz and Grahame from Liongate tell us about the time they saved the day when a wedding guest realised that he forgot his suit 40 minutes before the wedding!
Next up is Patrica from Sea Flowers, who is up for a most beautifully presented award, she talks to us about the importance of her website and photography to really showcase her story online.
Finally, we head over to All Seasons Guest House, Filey, who are up for a Tastiest Breakfast award. They tell us all about their menu and products and the story of how their most requested dish, The Arnold Bennett omelette, came to be.
