This year we received hundreds of entries for the eviivo Awards from across the independent accommodation sector, and would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter – customers and non-customer alike. The standard of shortlists across all categories was incredibly high, took much deliberation by our panel of independent judges.
All of the winners are listed below, and were announced at a glittering ceremony on 16th October at Quaglino’s in London.

Hidden Gems & Star Amongst Stars
From across the UK, nine properties were identified as a Hidden Gem, representing the very best that their region has to offer. Each made it through to become a finalist in the ultimate Star Amongst Stars award. The regional winners were:

At this 17th century Grade II listed townhouse, great care has been taken to preserve the original features of the guest bedrooms, which combine the best of old and new, giving the rooms a welcoming, contemporary feel. Packed full of period charm, designer fabrics and personal touches, each room has its own highly-individual ambiance.
Tastiest Breakfast
Graysonside Guest House, Cockermouth, Cumbria
Vegetarians and carnivores alike rave about “mushrooms like you’ve never tasted before” promised by the owner, whose priority is creating a memorable breakfast. Other mentionable breakfast items include the eggs from the local farm and the homemade black pudding, which are all presented with style and class – not to mention great taste.

Outstanding Host
Bowens Bed & Breakfast, Fownhope, Herefordshire
The Braybrooks have all the bases covered when it comes to making the most out of their village. They offer free maps and walking guides, and even lend guests a torch to make their way home again after a long walk (or pub session). For guests walking the Wye Valley Way, Kevin and Claire will collect their luggage from the previous accommodation and drop it off at the next one.
Budget With A Twist
This hostel promises a warm Irish welcome on arrival from knowledgeable staff, who are keen to recommend local attractions. The beds are comfortable and good quality and the rooms are bright, airy and well equipped. Breakfast foods are provided and there’s a communal kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals and chat to each other.
Sweetest Homestay
Family-run Portnellan provides self-contained cottages and lodges on an estate in the heart of the beautiful Highlands. Guests can settle in at their own leisure but the owners are on hand to help with arranging activities such as fishing, mountain biking or kayaking. With grounds as large as these, guests have plenty of space to explore.

This Swindon-based brewery, established in 1843, manages 8 pubs with rooms as part of wider network of 90 pubs across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire & Hampshire. Each are places to meet friends & family, have a drink and enjoy a warm and friendly welcome. Add in a hearty meal & a bed for the night, and so much the better!
