What advice would you give someone before they took a leap into the accommodation business?

You should go and work in one, in all departments for a whole month.

What do you think is the most important thing about being running your own B&B, guest house or small hotel?

If the guest is happy then everything is good.

What’s the funniest thing that a guest has requested?

For a pair of tweezers to take the hair out of his nose.

What is one thing you wish you knew before getting into this industry?

I wish I knew just how much cleaning there is.

What is the hardest part of your job?

it has to be paperwork.

What is the best part of your job?

When I can see the guest loving their accommodation.

What tips do you have to make sure guests book with you directly?

We give them a card with our number and website on it and that has a discount for 3 nights or more.

Can you offer any tips for making sure you stand out against your competition?

If you have good standards all round, get good reviews and make customers happy.

What is the nicest thing a guest has said about their stay with you?

They told us our property was like a home from home

Why did you choose to get into the accommodation business and what career did you have before?

I had an office job but I wanted to be at home with children.
