It’s great to see such enthusiasm from the industry on behalf of B&Bs, independent hotels, guesthouses, self-catering accommodation and apartments. Yes, it’s called B&B Week, but any and all independent accommodation providers are encouraged to get involved.

The offers that have come in so far are very varied – to paraphrase the popular saying: there is definitely something for everyone (and their dog). Here’s a selection of the mist imaginative offers we’ve seen so far:

For those who like the finer wines and spirits in life, taste-bud-ticklers include a free Scottish gin tasting at the Auld Post Office B&B, a complimentary Vineyard tour and wine tasting (plus a voucher to spend in the vineyard shop) at Lobhill Farmhouse as well as many B&Bs who offer free wine and bubbly on arrival.

Adventurous visitors are provided for with offers, such as discounted cycle hire at Number One B&B, a complimentary theatre visit, and a free pass for the whole family to visit St Michael’s Mount (as well as a discount voucher for the shop) from The Godolphin Arms.

For guests who like to explore the local landscape, Pwllgwilym B&B is offering a free half-day tour with Welsh Overland Safari of the Elan Valley Dams This is most definitly not a safari where you can spot the big five, but guests will be guaranteed sightings of the unique landscapes of Mid Wales with lots of stunning photo opportunities. Alternatively, for the more aquatically-inclined, a half lake cruise for two on Lake Windermere is on offer with a stay at Holmlea Guest House in Bowness.

Foodies are catered for with free picnic hampers of local produce from Middletown Farmhouse B&B, free unlimited ice cream from Meadow Cottage Bed & Breakfast, and a complimentary baking class at All Hallows Farmhouse for guests visiting during National B&B Week.

The quirkiest offer we’ve seen so far has to be £10 off for customers in fancy dress! We can’t wait to see some fantastic photos from Pensalda Guest House of obliging clientele…

Other properties are offering dog stays free of charge or tea and homemade cake for those with a sweet tooth. And, of course, there are a whole host of discounts to tempt guests to book directly.

As well as freebies and discounts, B&Bs have also offered up their rooms to families being supported by the Family Holiday Association.

All offers are now live on the National B&B Week website, and we’re truly impressed at the originality B&B owners have shown so far. Remember, it’s not too late to get involved – you can still submit your offer for the week here. So together, let’s make this a B&B Week to remember!
