Welcome to our October podcast and Happy Halloween! This month we have been busy putting on our annual awards night. This year they were at The Underglobe at Shakespeare’s theatre on the Southbank. And what a night it was!
The morning after the incredible event we got together with a few of the properties we work with over breakfast. And we discussed a number of topics including why they think that the independent industry is thriving right now, how they feel about online travel websites and commission, the importance of photography and your website. They also offered their advice to anyone who was thinking about entering the independent industry and told us many tales about the weird and wonderful and often strange things that can happen when you run one.
We spoke to Liz and Jill from Park Lodge, Sue and Mick from Ironbridge View Town House, Catherine and Stuart from Glendevon Central and Joyce from Blackwell House. We heard all about the time one guest didn’t know what to with a dead fox, the guests who were greeted and checked-in by another celebrity guest and one who found the host’s dog tucked up in bed with them.
